Flourishing Classrooms in a Broken World
If you鈥檙e an educator, you keep hearing our system is broken鈥攕omething is not working. It鈥檚 a grab bag of complaints: culture wars, falling test scores, technology addictions, and behavior problems. As Christian educators, we understand the reality of living in a fallen world鈥攂rokenness doesn鈥檛 surprise us. We鈥檙e still called to steward our time with the students in our care; oftentimes, we鈥檙e asked to do so with few resources. How, then, can we focus on 鈥渞edeeming the time鈥� (Eph. 5:16, KJV) in our classrooms, offering our students the head and heart skills they鈥檒l need to flourish in this digital age? For this year鈥檚 Empowering Educators conference at 天涯海角社区, we鈥檇 like to spend more time doing instead of theorizing. We鈥檒l have the opportunity to try the methods practicing educators are using to mitigate some of the problems we鈥檙e facing. Our focus will be on active learning strategies we can use across the curriculum.
